With Team India out of the ongoing T20 World Cup, legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has a few suggestions for fixing the team's batting and fielding issues. India finished third in Group 2 after beating Namibia in their last Super 12 match and New Zealand on Sunday saw Afghanistan defeat their semi-final hopes. Speaking on Sports Talk, Gavaskar believes that India's batting style needs to change in the power playovers. "It is not right to make too many changes in a team, because it is not the case that India lost all their matches, the batsmen in two matches did not do what was expected of them and that is why India is in this situation. "We need to change our approach now," he said.

"The fact that there are only 2 fielders outside the 30-yard line in the first 6 overs, India has not taken advantage of this in the last few ICC tournaments. That is why whenever India is against a strong team. "Whoever has good bowlers ... India can't score. So it needs to change."

Gavaskar also said that the team has only "3-4 great fielders". He compared India to New Zealand and felt that they needed players who were exceptional in fielding.

"The second and most important thing is that they should have players who are exceptional in fielding. The way New Zealand fielded, saved runs, took catches ... it was significant. If the attack was normal then why not?" Ho, pitch calm, good fielding. It can make a big difference. If you look at the Indian team, except for 3-4 great fielders, you can't rely on the rest to save runs or dive into the boundary, "he said. ۔
