New Delhi. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) is considered one of the most successful captains in the world. He led Team India for almost a decade. Under Dhoni's captaincy, India won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. Not only that, in 2009 she reached the top in the Test rankings. After winning the 2011 World Cup, the Indian team also had to go through a bad period in Test cricket. In 2011-2012, the team lost 8 out of 8 matches played on foreign soil. The team's bad phase began with a 0-4 defeat at the hands of England. After that, India, adorned with star cricketers, also lost all four Test matches against Australia. After losing the third match of the Test series against Australia, MS Dhoni blamed himself for the defeat. He had said that he was the captain, therefore he was the real culprit of the defeat.

'I need to blame myself as team captain'

Dhoni had said, "I need to blame myself. I am the captain of the team. So I blame myself. I am the real culprit. After losing the Test series, the Indian team also lost the ODI and T20 series on the tour of England. The team did not win a single match. Under Dhoni's captaincy, India lost another series against England in 2014.

He then retired from Test cricket after the third match of the series on a tour of Australia. India lost that series and suffered a defeat under the captaincy of Virat Kohli who has resigned as captain of the Indian T20 team after the T20 World Cup 2021. Kohli has won many important matches for India as captain, but he has not won a single ICC trophy.
